The Vespucci has embarked on many adventures, starting from the year of her birth, continuing during the <strong>postwar<\/strong> until more recent times.<\/p><p>As the name reminds us, the sailing ship was made in honor of the eponymous <strong>explorer<\/strong> , in fact at the bow has been installed a <strong>gilded bronze figurehead<\/strong> reproducing his physiognomy. The <strong>first trip<\/strong> dates back to <strong>July 2, 1931<\/strong> to <strong>Genoa<\/strong>, where he also received the <strong>combat flag<\/strong> In the hands of its first commander, <strong>Augusto Radicati of Marmorito<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Among the <strong>historical enterprises<\/strong> remember the training activity during the\u00a0<strong>World War II<\/strong>. At the end of the conflict only the Vespucci remained in service as the\u00a0<strong>twin Christopher Columbus<\/strong> was given to the<strong>USSR<\/strong> as <strong>war damage compensation; <\/strong>Or again, there was the time when the<strong>Admiral Agostino Straulino<\/strong> managed to climb all the <strong>London's Thames River<\/strong> to <strong>sails unfurled<\/strong> 1956.<\/p><p>On the occasion of the <strong>Rome Olympics<\/strong> 1960, the sailing ship transported by sea the <strong>Olympic flame <\/strong>from\u00a0<strong>Piraeus<\/strong> to <strong>Syracuse<\/strong>.
