About the experience

The experience lasts 8 hours. It is available from May to October, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 9 a.m.
Included in the price are English-speaking tour guide, private driver, entrance fees to a real cave-house and hotel pick-up service
The journey takes place in a minivan
The first stop is Alberobello ( 2-hour stop). The capital of trulli will amaze you with its ancient stone houses, narrow streets and conical roofs decorated with magical symbols. Upon arrival, you will visit the Aia Piccola, where the original trulli are still preserved
The second stop Matera (stop 2.5 hours). You will take a walking tour of the famous "Sassi" (historic cave dwellings). Enter a real cave-house and enjoy breathtaking views of the Murgia plateau. At the end of the tour, you will have 1 hour of free time to have lunch on your own or stroll around the small craft stores

About this tour

Would you like to explore both Apulia and Basilicata in one day? No problem.

With Movery you can experience a fantastic one-day group tour to Matera and Alberobello. Departure is from Bari with the possibility of being picked up at 4 meeting points.

Then you will board a minivan and in one hour you will reach Alberobello, the Apulian town known for its trulli, the characteristic stone dwellings with pointed roofs. You can move through the narrow streets and visit theLittle Hague, where you can see the original trulli.

After 2 hours, you will get back into the car to reach the second stop, viz. Matera. Here you will spend 2 1/2 hours and hike among the famous Sassi, the traditional cave dwellings. You will be taken to a real cave-house and admire the Murgia plateau.

Upon completion of the experience, you will have one hour to lunch or to take a stroll through the stores of crafts local. Finally, you will return to Bari and be driven back to the morning pick-up point.

How to get there

How to reach the meeting point by car for Basilica San Nicola

Start from Piazza Garibaldi, Naples, and take Corso Arnaldo Lucci. Follow the signs to enter the A3/E45 highway in the direction of Salerno/Reggio Calabria. Continue on the A3 and then take the exit for the A16/E842 in the direction of Bari. Continue along the A14 highway toward Bari. Take the Bari Nord exit and follow the signs to the city center. Enter Via Bruno Buozzi and continue on Corso Vittorio Veneto. Continue toward the historic center of Bari until you reach the Basilica di San Nicola, located at Largo Abate Elia.

How to reach the meeting point by public transportation for Basilica San Nicola

From Piazza Garibaldi, Naples, go to the Napoli Centrale train station. Take a Frecciargento or Frecciarossa train bound for Bari Centrale (duration about 3 hours). Once you arrive at Bari Centrale station, you can: On foot: walk about 20-25 minutes to the Basilica of San Nicola, following Corso Cavour, then turning left toward the historic center. By bus: take line 2 or 22 from Bari Centrale station and get off at the Largo Adua stop. From there, the Basilica is a few minutes' walk away.
