The fascinating island of Capri, is perhaps among the most luxurious and sophisticated in the Phlegrean lands. A tourist destination that attracts millions of visitors all year round, it looks like a jewel set among the heights of its rocky ridges. Directly overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the island offers breathtaking views. Among the best known and most visited viewpoints on the island of Capri, we suggest the picturesque walk along Via Tragara, which leads up to the panoramic terrace of the Belvedere Tragara.
On the eastern part of the island of Capri, traveling along the charming and fascinating trail of Pizzolungo, amid the scent of the Mediterranean scrub and the lapping of the waves of the sea that meet the coast of Capri, we reach the Belvedere Tragara. The romantic walk ends in an apotheosis of wonder. Once you reach the widening of the belvedere, all you have to do is choose one of the many benches to sit and calmly admire the spectacle of a panorama truly unmissable. The view is lost over the entire Gulf of Naples. On one side you can glimpse the rocky ridge of Anacapri and Monte Solaro, which imposingly dominate the enchanting seaside village of Marina Piccola. On another side, however, the gaze rests on the grandiose Faraglioni, the rocky guardians of the island of Capri, on which the rare blue lizard lives.
There are those who prefer to take this route during daylight hours, when the sun is high and allows them to capture postcard-perfect scenes by harnessing a simple camera. The more romantic, on the other hand, take the route in the evening hours, perhaps in conjunction with the full moon or during sunset. When the sun sets on the horizon line, the sky is tinged with incredible colors overhanging a deep blue sea where boats sail that look tiny from up here. The profile of the trees that rise in front, frame the spectacle enriched by the lights of the coastal villages. The surreal vision seems to spring from the art of a skilled painter who carefully chose the colors to tint a wonderful canvas.
The walk on the Pizzolungo Trail to Belvedere Tragara is not very challenging. We recommend that you bring a bottle of water, suitable shoes and above all a camera or at most a smartphone with a good camera.
In the middle of the terrace of the Belvedere Tragara stands a famous luxury hotel created from the renovation of the old Villa Vismara, described by Le Corbusier as an "architectural blossom," underlining the close connection between the villa's architecture and the surrounding nature.
Once they arrive on the terrace overview, pay attention to a peculiarity. On the wall is a curious patch of orange paint that is about 50 years old. An abstract shape in which everyone sees a different image from others.
On the way back from Belvedere Tragara, walk in the direction of Capri's famous Piazzetta and head to Via Camerelle, the sophisticated little street of the big names that connected the grand Villa on Via Tragara to the center of the island.
