Limitations

  • The price does not include the entrance ticket to the San Severo Chapel

  • It is necessary to first purchase the museum ticket on the official website and then book the tour guide service with movery

  • If the number of participants is not reached, the event will be postponed

  • The San Severo Chapel is closed on Tuesdays

  • The San Severo Chapel is open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm

About this tour

To grasp the most mystical and occult essence of Naples, a visit to the famous one is a must Sansevero Chapel which every day attracts Italian and foreign tourists to admire its most important work, the Veiled Christ.
The guided tour starts from San Domenico Maggiore Square, in the lower Decumanus of the city. You will be accompanied by the alchemy and esoteric expert Marianna Gagliardi who will tell you everything you need to know about the Veiled Christ and the deconsecrated church of Santa Maria della Pietà, known as the Sansevero Chapel.
Furthermore, you will be told the story of the Sansevero family and of Raymond of Sangro, seventh prince of Sansevero and client of the masterpiece sculpted by Giuseppe Sanmartino.
Surrounded by other important examples of sculptural art, you will be shown the Masonic symbolism hidden behind every element of the chapel. Finally, you will also be able to see the so-called anatomical machines, two realistic models of the circulatory system reconstructed down to the smallest detail.

How to reach the meeting point by car

From Piazza Garibaldi, take Corso Umberto I and turn right onto Via Mezzocannone. Follow the road to the end to find Piazza San Domenico Maggiore.

How to reach the meeting point by public transportation

From Piazza Garibaldi take Metro Line 1 and get off at the Università stop. Continue on foot along Corso Umberto I and turn into Via Mezzocannone. Go all the way up the hill until you come out in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore.

Discovering the most beautiful city

The tour in the center of Naples accompanied by the tour guide was most enjoyable and ended with a wonderful visit to the Chapel of the Veiled Christ. The guide during all the stages of our itinerary told us about both historical and more popular aspects, even suggesting visits we could do on our own. In the Chapel of the Veiled Christ one of the most important statues lingered, making us appreciate this site in its entirety. It was truly a beautiful and interesting morning! Recommended for exploring the center of Naples.
