About this tour

Even on vacation you have to work remotely and can't take it anymore? Then give yourself this exciting guided excursion to Naples Underground that will show you one of the most iconic and amazing places in the Neapolitan city. In fact, the site is located below the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, one of the most beautiful churches in Naples.
Napoli Sotterrata is thus located in the historic center of Naples at the conclusion of Via San Gregorio Armeno and where it begins St. Gaetano Square. From the square's number 316, it is therefore possible to access this spectacular route that allows you to visit one of the most interesting archaeological complexes.
During the tour you will descend to a depth of 10 meters to view the remains of the ancient macellum, the Roman market dating back to the first century AD, represented by a rectangular arcade with mosaic-covered floors and stores. At the lower levels then one can admire a road that supported the lower part of the Hole.
The latter included 9 craft stores consisting of vaulted rooms. The structure of the Roman site remained the same until the 13th century, when the construction of the basilica buried what remained of the market in the bowels of the earth, becoming the present-day Naples Underground. The experience lasts an average of 50 minutes and is ideal for couples or families and spend a lunch break 50 minutes different than usual.
