The Banco di Napoli Historical Archives is part of the Banco di Napoli Foundation and meets at the main decumanus, Via dei Tribunali. Since 2016 it has also been home to the Cartastorie - Bank of Naples Historical Archives Museum And right here you can have a one-of-a-kind experience.

It is no coincidence that Cartastorie is the most esoteric museum in the city of Naples, where thousands of stories of Neapolitan characters are collected. Inside are 80 kilometers of shelves with 17 million names and thousands of bank documents reconstructing the history of the Mezzogiorno from 1573 to the present.

One of the most well-known legends in Neapolitan culture is that of the deformed spirit that moves among the ancient palaces, the Munaciello. This character would have a dual nature: both kind and mischievous. His story is told by the great Neapolitan author Matilde Serao, who depicts him as the deformed son of two people from too distant a social class whom people pushed away thinking he was bad luck.

Then there were those who thought that the Munaciello was a pozzaro, that is, the person who managed the wells, but for others it was a demon. How to reach the meeting point by car

From Piazza Garibaldi proceed along Via Mancini and Via della Maddalena. Turn right onto Via Annunziata and Via Postica Maddalena. Then take Via Santa Maria a Cancello, Via Colletta and continue on Via Muzy. On the corner with Via dei Tribunali there is the museum.

How to reach the meeting point by public transportation

From Piazza Garibaldi move to Corso Lucci and take the R2 bus. Get off at the Poerio stop on Corso Umberto I and continue on foot. Turn onto Via Falcone and right again onto Via Colletta and Via Muzy. Then reach the museum on the corner of Via dei Tribunali.
