About this tour

The Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia is one of the best-known archaeological sites in Campania. It is located in the territory of the municipality of Capaccio-Paestum and is visited by thousands of Italian and foreign tourists every year. So why not explore this gem thanks to a tour departing from Naples?

The park has been a UNESCO heritage site since 1998, and within it you can see three Greek temples: the Temple of Neptune, the Temple of Ceres and the basilica. They date back to the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. and along with those of Agrigento and Athens, are the best-preserved religious buildings of the classical era. The temples are located in the central area of the city, which spreads over more than 120 hectares and is surrounded by walls.

All around the temples then stretched the housing districts, of which today we can see the baths, stores, forum, amphitheater and domus, all of which were mostly erected in the imperial age. The excursion begins in the morning from the Naples train station to reach Paestum by train. Once you arrive at the archaeological site, you can leisurely experience your tour. At the end of the day you will return to Naples, again by train.
