About this tour

To grasp the true essence of Neapolitan theater, there is no better thing than attending a play by the great and immense Eduardo de Filippo, one of the holy monsters of Neapolitan culture. So why not buy a ticket to this fantastic show at the Di Costanzo-Mattiello Theater Of Pompeii?
The event is called "E... like Eduardo" and consists of 3 one-act plays that will take you through 3 comedies written by Eduardo during his extraordinary career. The first play staged is. Dangerously, a 1938 comedy and of which a TV version was also made in 1956.
This is the story of Michele who returns to Naples after 15 years in the United States. His friend Arturo hosts him in his own house, and showing him his room is Dorotea, with whom he will talk about the difficult relationship with her husband, who has been shooting at her with a gun in moments of anger for 2 years.
The second opera performed is The gift of Christmas, composed in 1932 and appeared in the theater in 1934. The play tells of two newlyweds who are very much in love in spite of the great poverty in which they live. Acting as a counterpart are Sofia and Domenico, the homeowners, who instead argue all the time.
In the third and final act you will be able to see Friendship, a short comedy written by Eduardo in 1952. It tells the story of Alberto Califano who many years does not see his friend Bartolomeo. However, when he sees him again, he learns that the man does not have long to live.
Bartolomeo will be cared for by his sister Carolina, to whom Albert will lend a hand in meeting the needs of the sick man. Once the play is over, there will be room for a visit to the excavations of Pompeii.

    Fantastic theatrical performance

Yesterday my class attended a play about Eduardo De Filippo and it was fantastic! The actors were great and brought the characters from his plays to life in a really engaging way. The kids were all attentive and entertained, and they also learned a lot about the life and work of this great Italian playwright. I highly recommend it to all schools!
