About this activity

Perched on the steep coast of the beautiful Procida, stands the peculiar as well as the oldest seaside village on the island: Marina della Corricella, a pleasantly out-of-the-box place, far from the hustle and bustle, where it is possible to breathe clean, pollution-free air.

A special tranquility and harmony hovers among the old fishermen's houses that with their cheerful pastel colors and typical architecture Mediterranean, have become a symbol of the wonderful island of Procida.

At the foot of the village is the small eighteenth-century harbor that can only be reached by a wonderful walk, from which it is possible to admire the island's unique architectural structure.

Why visit Marina della Corricella

Perfect for relaxing vacations or even just a romantic weekend getaway, Marina della Corricella can be reached by sea or by walking along picturesque steps that wind their way between the small houses and the marina.

It also offers a wide choice of restaurants and bars where you can be won over by the riches of local seafood cuisine and more.

The many routes to visit Marina della Corricella

During the walk, it is possible to observe characteristic ancient alleys and churches with amazing architecture, such as the Shrine of St. Mary of Grace, a coveted tourist destination on the island of Procida located in Martyrs' Square, and the 19th-century Church of St. Thomas Aquinas.

The most famous bleachers are the Pennine Steps starting with San Rocco Street where the small 15th-century church of the same name stands out, or the Dark Steps leading on a similar route but starting from Scotti Street.

Instead, starting from Elm Square and walking down Mazzo Street, we reach the magnificent Belvedere of Callia which offers a picturesque view from which to admire theIsle of Capri and the headland of Walled Earth, you can also reach the 18th-century marina from here.

Curiosities about Marina della Corricella

Founded as a fishing village, Marina della Corricella gradually developed around the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie following a very unusual construction: the houses that were being built were erected one against the other in such a way as to raise an architectural unicum.

To distinguish them, fishermen used strong pastel colors such as green, yellow, blue, white or pink, colors that today characterize Procida and make it one of the postcards most beautiful in the Gulf of Naples.

The overall scenery is so spectacular and unique that the seaside image of Marina della Corricella has been used to advertise cutting-edge technological products and has also served as the backdrop for many cinematic works including the famous film "the Postman" of Massimo Troisi.
