About this tour

Even though it is the smallest of the Phlegrean islands, Procida is nevertheless one of the most picturesque places in the Gulf of Naples. Recognizable by its characteristic colorful cottages, it attracts thousands of tourists each year for its crystal-clear waters and still wild and unspoiled nature.

Less chaotic than the more crowded Capri and Ischia, Procida is the perfect choice for enjoying a quiet day with friends or family. To visit it in an original way, you can choose this fantastic activity of fishing tourism which allows you to learn more about the fishing traditions of local fishermen and admire some of the island's most captivating areas.

The tour begins at eight o'clock in the morning, when you will be shown the moment when the nets placed the night before are pulled up. This evening phase is optional and lasts about 45 minutes. The tour guide will explain how a fishing net is made and what fish can be found in it. If you are lucky, you will see cuttlefish, bream, octopus, mullet and other varieties of fish for frying in the nets.

This first phase of the fishing tourism experience always takes place in the village of Marina di Corricella and for those who wish there is the possibility of taking a tour of the island aboard a Sorrentine gozzo. In this case you will see the port of Chiaiolella with its waterfront, the bridge of Vivara, the beach of Ciraccio, the lighthouse of Procida, the abbey of San Michele, the port of Marina Grande and the beach of Pozzo Vecchio, made famous by the film "Il Postino."

From Naples, embarkations for Procida are from Calata di Massa (ferries) and Molo Beverello (hydrofoils). Take a ferry/hydrofoil to disembark at the port of Marina Grande in Procida. From the port proceed on Via Roma, Via Libertà, Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via Principe Umberto. Then continue on Via S. Rocco, Discesa Graziella and Via Marina di Corricella.
