Matera

Matera, located in Basilicata, is famous for its "Stones", ancient quarters carved into the rock and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its troglodytic houses and caves inhabited since the Paleolithic period, it offers a unique and timeless atmosphere. The city was European Capital of Culture in 2019 and boasts attractions such as the Cathedral and the Park of the Murgia Materana.
