Torre del Greco

Torre del Greco

Location immersed in Vesuvius National Park, crossed by Golden Mile, Torre del Greco it is nicknamed the city of corals for the ancient and noble tradition of processing coral red coral.
The wonders of Torre del Greco all come from the sea, in addition to the opportunity to admire art in the Coral Museum, Torre del Greco also offers gastronomic experiences to be enjoyed with fish specialties such as calamari, mixed fried fish or baked snapper and the unforgettable ice cream from Mennella, which opened its first branch here in 1969.
Giacomo Leopardi, enchanted by these places, lived here for some time at the now very famous Villa of the Brooms, former Villa Ferrigni.
History buffs can step back in time at the Hundred Fountains Complex, in the harbor area. A set of fountains that had the function of collecting water from a spring fed by the ancient Dragone stream, now obliterated probably due to the volcanic eruptions that changed the Vesuvian lands. The archaeological area of Villa Sora is also interesting.
Also of particular note are the Zoccolanti Monastery, the only Renaissance monument still present in the area, the Basilica of the Holy Cross with its baroque bell tower, and the Church of San Michele, in whose adjacent library you can admire stucco and fine marble.
In downtown it is possible to go shopping and relax in front of an ice cream or a coffee, while for lovers of nightlife Torre del Greco is perfect during the summer season. The beach establishments enliven the seafront with lounge bars and open-air discos and the city center is illuminated by the lights of the numerous clubs where it is possible to stop even just for an aperitif.
