About this activity

If you are curious about the fascinating world of ceramics and want to try your hand at different artistic techniques, the activity "Journey through Ceramics" is the perfect opportunity for you. This three-hour workshop, to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., offers a comprehensive overview of majolica production, allowing you to explore and experience various aspects of this ancient and fascinating art.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to touch on the main ceramic techniques, starting from the clay modeling, one of the most creative and fun phases of the process. You will learn how to work with clay to create plastic forms, experimenting with its malleability and discovering how to bring small objects, such as hand-molded animals, to life. Modeling with the technique of columbine, which consists of assembling small canes of clay, will allow you to make unique creations.

Once familiar with clay, the workshop will include a demonstration of thelathe use. Here you will have the opportunity to try the basic positions and feel like a real potter as you shape clay with the help of the potter's wheel, one of the most fascinating phases of pottery making. It will be an unforgettable moment when you can try your hand at making an object by turning and shaping clay in a precise and elegant way.

Another highlight of this experience will be the section devoted to the glaze. You will learn how to apply ceramic bath glaze and, later, how to decorate on glaze, a decorative technique that adds personality and beauty to finished objects. You will have a range of decorative motifs available, allowing you to customize your piece to your liking, expressing your creativity through color and imagination.

The workshop will provide you with a comprehensive overview of majolica production, an art rooted in centuries, and allow you to try a little bit of everything from modeling techniques to decoration on glaze. Whether you are a pottery beginner or enthusiast, this experience will give you a 360-degree view of how pottery is made, from raw clay to the finished product.

Don't miss the opportunity to experience a creative journey into the world of ceramics and discover the pleasure of creating with your own hands!

    Fantastic

I have always been passionate about pottery and finally had the opportunity to learn how to make it with my own hands during a class in Vietri. The teacher was fantastic and passed on her passion for this craft to me. In just a few hours I learned the basics of the potter's wheel and made several ceramic objects. A truly unique and unforgettable experience!
