About this tour

This evocative boat tour starts from the port of Torre Vado, gateway to one of the most fascinating stretches of coastline in Salento. From here one sails south toward the wonderful Santa Maria di Leuca, along the Ionian side, famous for its spectacular sea caves.

Skirting the Ionian Sea coastline, one can admire natural cavities carved into the rock over millennia, including the Dragon Cave, the Cave of the Stable, the Cave of the Giants, the Caves of the Three Gates and the River Cave. Each cave holds plays of light, turquoise reflections and legendary suggestions that make navigation an exciting and immersive experience.

Leaving the Ionian caves behind, we reach the Punta Ristola, known as the "Heel of Italy," the southernmost point of Puglia. From here there is a breathtaking view of Leuca Marina and its elegant coastal profile.

Continue on to the heart of Leuca, famous for its charming 19th-century villas in eclectic style, often inspired by Moorish and Greek-Arabic tastes. You can admire the scenic monumental staircase that connects the sanctuary to the port and the imposing Lighthouse of Santa Maria di Leuca, the second most important lighthouse in Italy, majestically overlooking the coast.

Navigation continues to Punta Meliso, a symbolic point where the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea meet. From here we ascend along the Adriatic side, where the landscape changes dramatically: the cliffs become higher and more jagged, the sea takes on different hues, and the caves present unique conformations.

On the Adriatic side we visit the Terradico Cave, the Verdusella Cave, the Cave of the Seagulls, the Breath Cave, the Vora Cave and the impressive complex of the Mannute. A complete and spectacular itinerary that allows you to discover, in a single experience, two seas, different views and some of the most fascinating natural wonders of Salento.

How to reach the meeting point by car

From Bari airport enter SS16 for 120 km and then take SS613. After 32 km take the exit for Gallipoli and enter SS694. After 7 km enter SS101 and after 35 km take SS274. Continue for 10 km and take the exit towards Marciano. Then continue on Via Trieste and Piazza Torre.

How to reach the meeting point by public transportation

From Bari central station take the train to Lecce. From the station move to Viale Gallipoli and take bus 108 to Morciano di Leuca. Get off at the Residence Cala Saracena stop and continue walking on Via Amalfi to arrive at Piazza Torre.
