About this tour

Also known as the Florence of the South, Lecce is one of the most evocative and captivating locations in the Salento region. Rich in charm and with a vast artistic and cultural heritage, the Apulian city attracts more and more tourists from Italy and all corners of the world. To enjoy the beauty of the salento baroque we came up with this unforgettable walking tour of Lecce's most important attractions.
The tour will depart from Umberto I Street, and in the company of an experienced guide you will be able to admire Naples Gate, a finely decorated arch that marks the entrance to Lecce's historic center. Built in 1548 in honor of Emperor Charles V, it can be encountered near Piazzetta Arco di Trionfo.
Nearby Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the hub of Lecce's historic center, you will also see theRoman amphitheater dating back to the second century BC. At one time it could accommodate up to 25,000 people, while today it is partially buried by the various monuments built around it in the following centuries.
It was rediscovered in the early twentieth century, and the lower tiers, the arena, and part of the outer walls can still be seen. A third of the monument is therefore still visible, while the rest is hidden underground in Piazza Sant'Oronzo.
Right in the square you can observe the Column of Saint Oronzo which serves as a support for the statue of Lecce's patron saint, gifted from nearby Brindisi to pay tribute to the saint's efforts to cure the plague that raged through the city in 1656. In fact, the column was originally part of a pair that indicated the end of the famous Via Appia in Brindisi. For this experience you can still choose between the group tour option or private tour.
So if you can't wait to embark on the discovery of beautiful Lecce, all you have to do is buy your ticket now!
