Tickets and subscriptions: what pays off in December

During the holidays it pays to opt for day tickets or weekly passes, especially if you plan to visit multiple neighborhoods or attend different events on the same day. The time ticket remains useful for short trips or for those visiting only a few attractions, but the daily or a weekly subscription allows you to save money and avoid having to purchase multiple tickets.

Tickets can be purchased at tobacconists, newsstands, subway and funicular stations or through dedicated apps. During December, some main stations and stops may be more crowded: planning travel in advance is therefore advisable.

Metro, buses and trains: how to choose

For quick travel between downtown and major districts, the metro is often faster than the bus, which can be delayed by Christmas traffic.
