The park is located at 1 Elysian Fields St.
Just a few steps from the Villa Mirabilis, one comes across a small public park called the Villetta di Via Campi Elisi. This small green space in Bacoli was designed to provide a meeting place for children and as an alternative space to concrete. It is a small public park made for the youngest citizens.
The park stands on the Bacoli promontory right in the middle of the city, flanked by houses and narrow streets. In the little villa on Elysian Fields Street, children can have fun together, meet to chat and admire the beautiful panorama from benches in the shade of ornamental and fruit trees. It is laid out on three terraces with paving and street lamps: the first leads to a small altar, on the second there are benches for relaxing, and on the third terrace there is a play area dedicated to children. The park overlooks the ancient village of Bacoli and is within walking distance of tourist sites such as the Mirabilis Pool and the One Hundred Chambers, archaeological sites that attract many tourists who can find, therefore, in this park a small point of relaxation before continuing their visit to the city.
The Park is a real-life example of "Shared Management of Common Goods" where citizens themselves were responsible for the maintenance and reopening of the park, which had long been left in disrepair.
As we said, this small public park was designed and built as an area intended for children and families, in the middle of the streets of Bacoli. It was to be and is a green area intended for citizens. But its history has not been the easiest. The park was closed for a long time because of the degradation in which it poured: vandalism and dirt made the park virtually inaccessible, which in fact was even fenced off precisely to limit the damage.
However, thanks to the initiative of several associations and the will of the citizens of Bacoli themselves, much energy was invested in restoring the small park. It is therefore thanks to this commitment and devotion that today the park can reopen its gates.
