About this tour

The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa is one of the most beautiful and evocative museum centers in Naples and is an unmissable place for those who want to deepen their knowledge of our railway system. In fact, in October 1839 in the then Kingdom of the Two Sicilies the first Italian railway was inaugurated which connected Naples to Portici.
The following year, with a Royal Decree, part of the land was purchased on which the Pietrarsa complex was then built. Originally named Royal Bourbon Works, the museum today occupies an area of 36,000 square meters and offers a magnificent view of the Gulf of Naples. Inside there is also a beautiful botanical garden and a huge conference center and conference area.
It is therefore an unmissable structure for the richness of the exhibits on display and the location with an incredible charm that has few equals in the world. This guided tour of the museum is ideal for spending a day of fun with friends or in the company of children who usually love this kind of experience.
Not surprisingly, you can stroll through its various pavilions to admire its more than 55 historical specimens which retrace the glorious past of the railways from the nineteenth century to the eighties of the twentieth century. Specifically, you will see carriages, locomotives, models, machinery and much more.
