About this tour

Who has never wished to visit Dante's Inferno in the company of the supreme poet? Well... the long-awaited moment has finally arrived! This fantastic theatrical performance, in fact, stages the first cantica of the Divine Comedy in a place that is nothing short of unforgettable, the Lapis Museum.
It is an underground museum hub that extends 40 km into the bowels of the earth. The museum route runs along Via dei Tribunali and up to the church of Santa Maria Maggiore at Pietrasanta. In particular, you will be able to see tuff quarries carved into the rock, Greco-Roman water cisterns, and caves used as air-raid shelters during World War II.
You will be accompanied by Dante himself and his trusty Virgil, which will free him from the threat of the 3 beasts who want to prevent him from entering Hell. So you will overcome the ferryman of souls. Charon and you will see other figures such as Cerberus, Pluto, the Furies, Farinata degli Uberti, Pier delle Vigne, and Cavalcante Cavalcanti.
Toward the end of the play you will meet other important characters who populate the infernal boils. There will be the Homeric hero Ulysses who will utter the famous line "you were not made to live like Brutes but to follow virtue and knowledge," the desperate and weeping Count Ugolino, and Lucifer, depicted in such a way as to make those who encounter it think.

Journey into Dante's inferno in the underground passages of Naples: a unique educational experience for schools

Dante's Inferno at the Lapis Museum is ideal for the schools because it combines literature and history in an immersive experience. Students explore the underground passages of Naples guided by the Supreme Poet, meeting iconic characters from the "Divine Comedy" such as Paolo and Francesca, Ulysses and Count Ugolino. The evocative setting and theatrical involvement make learning Italian literature alive and interactive, enriching the educational experience with a strong historical and cultural connection.
