Walk with us along one of the most fascinating trails in the Phlegraean Fields: the Descent into Hell. The name originates from the ancient Greco-Roman myth, which identified the Lake Avernus like the door to the Kingdom of Hell.
The route starts from the slopes of the Mount New, the youngest volcano in Europe, now extinct. You will pass through a fragrant pine forest and Mediterranean scrub surrounding the fumaroles, reaching the summit, from where you can admire the volcano's crater and a breathtaking view of the area.
From here the descent to the Underworld will begin, through an impressive oak forest, until we reach the shores of Lake Avernus. This lake, located within an extinct volcano formed about 4,000 years ago, is now an important nesting and wintering site for numerous bird species.

The cost of the ticket in the shared mode is €30.00 per person
A reservation fee of €4.50 is required to confirm the reservation. The balance of the experience fee of €25.50 can be paid directly on site on the day of the activity
The trail has a duration of about 2 hours and is classified with difficulty grade E (Hiking). The total length is 7 km, with a positive elevation gain of 110 m.
