In recent decades, Naples has served as the backdrop for so many films and operas of Italian cinema and is still a coveted location for movies and television series. How can we not mention the great success of Mare Fuori or the great classics of De Sica and the directors of neorealism?
The list is really long and from the suburbs to the center, almost every corner of the Neapolitan city has hosted iconic scenes from many of the cinematic masterpieces that have left an indelible mark on our culture. To capture the essence of Naples and find out in which areas they filmed, all you have to do is take part in this fun guided tour that allows you to learn about some of the most beautiful attractions in the capital of Campania.
Over the course of 4 hours you can explore the city far and wide and will be led to the Sanità District and the Basilica of Santa Maria La Sanità, which hosted the filming of De Sica's Mare Fuori and L'Oro di Napoli. Next, you'll see Palazzo dello Spagnuolo, where they filmed the drama Mina Settembre and the film Pacco, doppio pacco e contropaccotto, and Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, site of the filming of Rossellini's Paisà.
In addition, you will also get to admire the Totò's House, the Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro, Palazzo Pandola, Piazza del Plebiscito, Galleria Umberto, Piazzetta Sisto Riario Sforza, and the San Carlo arcade.
This tour is perfect for schools because it offers a'educational experience rich and interactive, combining cinema, history and culture. Naples, chosen as a location for numerous Italian films, becomes an open-air classroom where students can explore places that have served as the backdrop for famous films, from De Sica's neo-realism classics to modern series such as "Mare Fuori."
During the tour, students will have the opportunity to get to know the city up close, but also to reflect on the role of cinema as a tool for telling social events, life stories and cultural transformations. The tour offers interdisciplinary insights that make learning stimulating and accessible, mixing the discovery of historical sights with the analysis of film productions, thus fostering the development of creativity and curiosity in pupils.
