About this tour

To learn about the roots of Neapolitan culture and traditions, there is no better thing than a nice half-day tour through the streets of the historic center. The walking tour will start from Piazza Dante and here you will be able to admire the beauty of the Convitto Nazionale (National Boarding School), built to a design by Luigi Vanvitelli. Next, you will reach the Port'Alba area and after passing the oldest pizzeria in the city you will reach Piazza Bellini, where you can see the remains of the Greek walls of Neapolis.
The walk then continues in the direction of Via dei Tribunali, and after listening to the story of the well-known statue of Punchinello you will see the Church of the Souls in Purgatory, which is famous for the crypt that holds the so-called capuzzelle, the remains of ancient skulls around which the cult of pezzentelle souls was born.
Then the tour will continue toward Via San Gregorio Armeno, known for being the street of artisan workshops dedicated to nativity art. The walk will take you to Spaccanapoli, the street that bisects Naples. There will be a stop to visit the Monastery of St. Clare with its marvelous majolica-tiled cloister, and we will then come to Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, recognizable by the tall obelisk towering in the center.

Consigliatissimo!
