The Befana at Market Square in Naples is a heartfelt celebration that enlivens one of the city's most important historic sites every year on the occasion of Epiphany. It is not only an event related to children, but a true moment of popular life, capable of involving families, young people, the elderly and visitors.

In early January, Market Square and the area of the Carmine are transformed into a colorful and lively space filled with stalls, lights and music. Here the traditional hag fair, with stands selling toys, stockings, sweets and traditional Neapolitan products. Strolling among the stalls, one breathes in an authentic atmosphere of voices, scents and smiles, reminiscent of the Naples of yesteryear.

The festival is designed especially for the youngest children, with entertainment, shows, music and games, but it also manages to involve adults, who often become children again for a few hours. There is no shortage of musical entertainment and cultural initiatives, making the square a great place to meet and share.

One of the most important aspects of the Befana in Market Square is its social and community value as the event helps to enhance the neighborhood, bring people and families back to a historic part of the city and strengthen a sense of belonging. Over the years, the event has become a symbol of revival and participation, capable of attracting thousands of people.

The event program

The Musicant Association, the city administration, the 2nd Naples Municipality and the Mercato Orefici Territory Promotion Forum are the promoters of the third edition of the "Befana at Market Square, stocking and toy fair", which will be held Jan. 3 to 5.

The program kicks off on January 3 at 18:00 with an atmospheric Disney-style inaugural parade designed especially to enchant the little ones. At 7:30 p.m., the atmosphere becomes solemn with the performance of the Fanfare of the Eighth Bersaglieri Regiment of the "Garibaldi" Brigade, joined by the opening of the XXVIII edition of "Donate a toy that gives a smile", the event's signature solidarity initiative. The evening concludes at 8:30 p.m. with a valuable musical moment: in the Church of Santa Maria la Scala a concert by Alfio Lombardi and the Italian Orchestra is staged, with a tribute to Renzo Arbore (free admission by reservation).

The 4 January, to the 19:30, music takes center stage again with the concert "That's Napoli Live Show", directed by maestro Carlo Morelli and hosted in the Church of St. Eligius Major. Again, admission is free, with reservations required.

The most anticipated moment comes on the January 5 with the White Night And the grand finale of Epiphany. At 21:00 the square lights up with a big concert featuring on stage artists such as Mavi, Mr. Hyde, You name it and Gino Da Vinci. The party, as per tradition, continues throughout the night, accompanying the public until the first light of the morning in an atmosphere of music, merriment and sharing.
