Salerno nights are back to shine with the highly anticipated 20th edition of "Artist Lights", the event that transforms the Campania capital into one of Italy's most atmospheric Christmas destinations every winter. The official opening is set for Friday November 14, 2025 at 5:30 p.m., with the lighting of the first installations in the Municipal Villa in Via Roma, the beating heart of the event. The illuminations will remain lit until the February 1, 2026, offering an immersive journey through art, light and fantasy for more than two months. As per tradition, the installations will be located between Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Sant'Agostino, the Villa Comunale, the Trieste waterfront and Piazza della Concordia, creating an itinerary capable of engaging adults and children alike.
Not just lights: discovering Salerno among tours and tourist activities around the city
The Luci d'Artista in Salerno is an excellent opportunity to discover more about the city in Campania at such a magical and special time of the year. Located between the Amalfi Coast and the Cilento, Salerno is a city that combines Mediterranean beauty, ancient history and modern spirit.
Often considered the "gateway to the South" because of its strategic location and the warm welcome of its inhabitants, it offers much more than one might expect. Walking around Salerno means breathing in history and art at every turn. The Cathedral of St. Matthew, a Norman masterpiece dating back to the 11th century, holds priceless works of art and bears witness to the city's glorious past.
The historic center, with its interwoven alleys, craft stores and typical taverns, tells of a city that is alive, authentic and deeply Mediterranean. The Trieste waterfront, which stretches for more than two kilometers, is one of the most fascinating in Italy and offers a promenade among palm trees, the sea and views that open toward the Amalfi Coast.
In recent years, Salerno has been able to perfectly combine modernity and tradition. For example, the "Marina d'Arechi" marina is among the most innovative in the country, while the Provincial Archaeological Museum and the Minerva Garden, an ancient botanical garden of the Salerno Medical School, tell of deep roots that go back to the Middle Ages.
