The voluntary association and equestrian center “A Horse For Friend" of Succivo, located in the picturesque Teverolaccio farmhouse, was born in 2003 from the passion for horseback riding of a group of friends, which has been transformed into a sports association affiliated with Asi, a social sports promotion organization recognized by the CONI.
To date, in addition to winning first place at the World Summer Cup (world trotting pony racing championship) in France, is the only Italian school engaged in the training of professional student future drivers.
The association is constantly organizing events and days especially for children, so that they can enjoy themselves under the banner of culture and surrounded by nature, but also to pass on to future generations the traditions and jobs of yesteryear.
The trotting and riding school is home to some 20 ponies and horses of various breeds, American, Arabian, trotter and haflinger, also known as Haflinger, a breed from northern Italy with a particularly docile temperament and suitable for many disciplines and activities, including the pet therapy. The latter in particular is central to projects dedicated to special children, for whom visits and activities are often organized on the farm that include animals, including Holly, an 11-year-old mare fostered by the equestrian augmentation center in Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
The association is very dedicated to fundraising aimed at facilitating families who would like to take advantage of these therapies, which is why a small contribution of one euro is asked of participants on Sunday mornings to support the initiative; in addition, it is a wonderful time for children to play, share and interact. Being in contact with animals and nature is a fantastic opportunity to break out of the "virtual bubble" that often chains children, and even adults, to video games and cell phones.
Every Saturday and Sunday, original and fun activities await you: pony rides, milking baby goats, feeding the animals with hay and petting them, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, playing in the meadows, and resting in the refreshment area, perhaps tasting some fresh produce from the house, such as honey and fresh eggs. Lots of animals are waiting for you: in addition to ponies and horses, there are also donkeys, baby goats, peacocks, chickens, geese, bunnies, hamsters, hedgehogs, budgies and many cute little dogs. At the end of the trail, each child will get their certificate of participation and a fresh egg to take home with them.
Numerous themed events, birthday parties, festivals with food stands, school projects and group tours are organized throughout the year. The farmhouse enjoys a wonderful and spacious garden, while nearby there are lovely social gardens that are tended by villagers, bars, trattorias, and a quaint old-style restaurant that plans an upcoming opening in April 2023.
For the learning path, children get to know their pony friends from infancy, starting at age 2, while the actual schooling begins at age 6 or 7. The course is carefully supervised by federal instructors, and starting with a natural approach to the horse slowly becomes a professional driver, even passing an exam held at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Have fun with your family by having authentic experiences in close contact with nature!
