Christmas is now imminent and cities across Italy are ready to light up with wonderful luminaries and majestic decorations. In our homes, however, nativity scenes and Christmas trees are being set up, and we are already beginning to think about what to give to family and friends.

In Campania, too, the rush to Christmas and from November until Epiphany there are many events, manifestations and Christmas markets scattered in each of the 5 provinces. So let's find out together all the most important events on the calendar for the holiday season.

Christmas markets at the Pietrarsa National Railway Museum

Christmas markets return to the Pietrarsa National Railway Museum for the fifth edition of the event that will take place December 2 to January 7, 2024. Already last year there were record numbers with more than 110,000 attendees. Among the little wooden houses it is possible to meet Santa Claus and elves, all accompanied by cheerful background music.

There is no shortage of stalls and booths of artisans which offer Christmas souvenirs and various kinds of gifts. Instead, at the food area one can taste many dishes and excellences of Neapolitan gastronomy.

Christmas Village at the Overseas Exhibition

The Christmas Village at the Mostra di Oltremare is the ideal location to spend a day of fun and magic in the company of your children. It will be held in Naples Dec. 7 to Dec. 30 and will welcome participants on a path of colorful lights and decorations. You will then be able to see Santa's House and twirl around the ice rink.

Princess musicals, meetings with the Village mascots, Baby Dance activities and the Children's makeup. However, this is also a special place for older people to stroll and shop among the Christmas market stalls and watch the final fireworks display. To top it off, there is a food area where you can have something to eat or a hot drink.

Christmas markets at the Medici Castle in Ottaviano

December 2 to 17 Christmas markets await you at the Medici Castle in Ottaviano, in the province of Naples. Plenty of stands and stalls will be set up inside the historic, centuries-old manor to display souvenirs and handicrafts of all kinds, including Christmas decorations to decorate the tree and your own home.

All this in an enchanting setting, to say the least, as the festival is held in the residence's festively lit courtyards. This year one of the recurring themes is legality, as evidenced by the presence of some exhibitors from the Polis Foundation, the Campania Region agency that manages the reuse of property taken from the Camorra. In fact, you will find various products grown on land confiscated from crime. In short, it's a great opportunity to do good.

Christmas Valley in Torre del Greco

The event is now in its seventh year and is scheduled for Dec. 2 to 26 at the Bear Valley Park in Torre del Greco. It was also awarded at the Parksmania Awards as the best family project carried out in European parks. Welcoming visitors will be a special character, whose identity, however, has not yet been revealed. In addition, everyone will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus in the flesh!

Inside the park, adults and children will immerse themselves in the warm and irresistible atmosphere of Christmas and be accompanied by elves and Santa's other helpers. Games, musical performances and, of course, the ever-present booths with lots of crafts and items are planned.

Christmas Village Caserta at the San Marco Evangelista Fairgrounds

Christmas Village awaits you at A1 Expo - San Marco Evangelista Fairgrounds December 7 to 23. This event allows you to immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas to grasp its true essence. Here you can do various activities suitable for the whole family and experience days of true fun and entertainment.

The facility accommodates a large Christmas market offering a rich selection of handcrafted gifts and treats from Campania's food and wine industry. There will also be fantastic creative workshops, live music events and meetings with Santa Claus.

Cadeaux at Limatola's Castle

One of the most popular events at this time is undoubtedly the Cadeaux event at Limatola Castle in the province of Benevento. It is scheduled to open from November 10 to 12, to return to the scene continuously November 17 to December 10. This is one of the most popular events as it is staged in the halls of the charming medieval residence.

Once again this year, you will be able to admire the beauty of the illuminations and street performers, and you will then have the opportunity to taste lots of local food and goodness. In addition, there will be more than a thousand exhibitors offering an endless array of pottery, crafts and antiques. Christmas markets at Hector Castle

Also in the province of Benevento, the Christmas markets await you at the Castello dell'Ettore, an ancient medieval mansion in the small village of Apice Vecchia. This is the fifth edition of the festival, which already promises to be full of novelties. November 18 to December 17 the castle will be populated with craft stalls and food stands to fully enjoy this most unforgettable time of the year.

There will be live performances by jugglers and belly dancers, and it will be possible to meet the famous King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The biggest news, however, concerns the space The Magic School of Hogwarts dedicated to the saga of the world's most famous wizard. Framing the whole thing will be no shortage of elves, bagpipers and Santa Claus, ready to welcome visitors.

Christmas at Grassano Park

Grassano Park in San Salvatore Telesino is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Sannio, and again this year you can participate in its fantastic Christmas event planned December 8 to 30 and January 5 to 7. Here you will have many booths and markets where you can buy handicrafts and of course lots of good food.

For the little ones, there is the Polar Express train, Santa's House, the Grinch House and the Christmas Zoo, as well as some educational workshops to learn how to make Christmas cookies. On the bill are several musical concerts, magic shows and gospel choir performances.

Caposele Christmas markets

For the upcoming holiday season, don't miss the Christmas markets in Caposele, in the province of Avellino. The event is scheduled for the days December 2, 3, 9 and 10 for its 11th edition. For as many as 2 weekends you can experience the magic of Christmas in a small provincial village that has nothing to envy to more well-known locations.

In fact, the city of Irpinia welcomes Europe's tallest Christmas tree which touches nearly 33 meters in height and will be officially lit on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. It is an imposing fir tree decorated with elegant decorations built by local artisans that represents an ode to courage and hope for those who fight every day and to the memory of those who are gone.

Christmas markets at Gesualdo Castle

The Castle of Gesualdo, near Avellino, is once again dressed in festive garb with the opening of Santa's village and typical Christmas markets. It begins Starting Nov. 24 and ending Jan. 7. In this atmospheric place you can walk among stalls displaying toys, local handicrafts, gift items, Christmas decorations and much more.

There will be space for educational workshops, tastings, musicals, and live performances in the company of street performers. This year then you can also exclusively visit the LEGO mini-village built entirely from the famous bricks.
