What could a housewife, a salumiere, a street vendor or a trader have in common? They are all residents of Naples and the province, and what ties them together is the fact that they have millions of followers who follow them on Tik Tok.

They are all quirky characters with no special skills, light years away from the glamour and allure of the better-known influencers who populate social networks. Every video made by these people immediately becomes viral and successful. Let's see which ones are the most well-known and acclaimed neapolitan tiktokers.

Mucella

People come from all corners of the city and other provinces to taste Mucella's ears of corn. Also known as the "queen of ears of corn." Giusy Mucella is a street corn vendor who can be encountered in the Spanish Quarter.

Giusy is there every day behind her yellow cart and prepares the ears of corn together with her husband. They are prepared boiled or roasted and then seasoned with salt or with mayonnaise, ketchup and pepper. The latter type of seasoning is called Red and White. The woman pleases her customers as best she can, even indulging more curious requests, such as chocolate-covered corn on the cob.Donato De Caprio

Donato De Caprio is a charcuterie worker employed by a store in the Pignasecca neighborhood of Naples and is a real phenomenon on Tik Tok. Each video features his hands and a sandwich that is prepared according to the customer's needs. Donato before starting asks "With crumb or without?" and then continues by slicing cold cuts, grilled vegetables, and cheeses.

The idea came to Donato from a desire to tell about his daily work through Tik Tok videos using a very simple format, namely filming himself while preparing a sandwich. Initially the videos reached a limited number of users, but in a few weeks the followers quadrupled. Today Donato De Caprio's fans number more than 1.7 million and are growing steadily.

Giggione

"With love and fondness, Giggiolone has arrived. With love and fondness, good morning fish market!" This is not the slogan of an unlikely advertisement, but simply the shouted greeting most famous on Tik Tok. The audio was used to create more than 30,000 videos that later spawned other memes and ironic repurposing.

The author of the original video is Luigi (Giggione), the fishmonger present on social media as @gigipescheria. His account has over 320,000 followers and more than 6 million likes. Luigi is a fresh fish vendor in Torre Annunziata who began posting his videos on Tik Tok in late 2021 but the wave of success only came in February 2023. After that, he continued to make other content, becoming an idol for the residents of his neighborhood.

Open-thigh lemonade

Videos of people intent on drinking lemonade with their thighs open are all the rage on Tik Tok. But what is it all about? To find this drink, it is necessary to go to Trieste and Trento Square, where there is an old kiosk that offers precisely lemonade. The name "open-thigh lemonade" is owed to Carolina Guerra, the waterman who, together with her brother Antonio, has been running the business for 60 years.

The lemonade offered is natural, fresh and genuine, but what makes it special is above all the juice, extracted with an ancient citrus squeezer. Sparkling water is then added to the glass and finally a pinch of baking soda. This final ingredient makes the drink bubbly and overflowing, and that is why it is recommended to drink it while spreading your legs slightly.

Gasparino's

Among the most beloved Neapolitan tiktokers one cannot fail to mention Gasparino, a butcher shop in Casavatore that has been in business since 1948. Over the years, management has passed to the children, and for the past two years the new generation has given the store a modern, up-to-date feel, but always with a focus on tradition.

Gasparino's, however, sells not only meat but also a wide selection of offal, including 'o pere e 'o musso, tripe, zuppa forte, ammugliatielli, and so on. In addition, a wing of the kitchen has been added dedicated to the preparation of gourmet dishes.
